Back to the usual... So PAL60 is not a distorted image? Like **** it isn't.
I was shopping with my gf today for a TV for her and I took my DC with me because I was convinced by those here that my TV must dispaly PAL60 wrong because on my TV PAL60 is compressed horizontally. Well I tested three different TVs today and guess what? Every TV displays PAL60 compressed. Shenmue was the game tested and the mirror on the start screen is oval in PAL60. The TVs tested where Phllips, LG and SONY flat screen 68cm non 100hz models. The LG and Phillips are not nearly as bad as the Sony, but all dispaly it like I said all along. I WAS RIGHT!

What an appropriate topic title. Nathan have you ever considered the fact you may have a vision problem? Seeing ovals and the like where there arent any?
Ive never seen a TV displaying PAL 60 stretched or compressed or whatever the hell your saying.

The only thing here that is distorted is you and the demented reality that you reside in. It's high time you booked yourself in for an eye examination, chump. Room service called, are you still after giant Froot Loops in the morning?

Any of you know a better way to test PAL60 on a TV before you buy?... I thought not.Open your ****ing eyes and look at the PAL60 Shenmue image. It's a slight oval.

Yeah, I have the same problem. The PAL60 image on my 59cm Wega is stretched vertically, going off the screen both at the top and bottom. What's even more annoying is that the image is pushed in at the sides, so I get small black bars on the left and right of the image. It's just a service problem, I'll have to get a tech guy in to fix it for me.That would be the same case with all those TVs you tested, very rarely is a TV setup with a perfect image. Get someone to fix your set, you shouldn't have the "circles are ovals" problem, 60htz is supposed to be a perfect image.

Excuse me Mr. Bean, but how do you explain the fact that my TV, and every other TV I have seen PAL60 games running on, display it fine? Don't get angry at us because of your eyesight and mental problems.

It displays it totally circular on my Sony Trinitron running at PAL 60 Hz.This is all I needed to say. Thanks for reading.

It's ovoid because eithera) it's running at full screen, and no non-flatscreen CRT has edges that are exactly 90-degrees to each other - it will always look like an oval due to the curvature of the surface.. b) if it's a Flat-screen TV, then it's probably got that weird correction that some (if not all) flatscreen tellies have that make it look 'right'
