I'm looking to get a 19" monitor very soon so I was wondering if anybody here had any suggestions as to which one to get or alternatively, which ones you'd suggest I avoid at all costs.I've taken a bit of a fancy to the Mitsubishi 1995SL as I can pick one up for just $570 and that seems like a fantastic price for a 19" model to me, I really don't wanna spend more than about $750 so can anybody recommend any other decent 19" monitors that would fit my budget?

heh heh! he said 'taken a fancy'heh heh! he said 21" heh heh! he said 'touchy' ho ho, I say $570 sounds a good price for that monitor. Have you looked at any of the LG flat screens? they're nice, but probably a bit pricey. Regular LG tubes in OEM brands like Proline are also quite good, I've got a 17" one that I'm really happy with (although it does make me feel inadequate size-wize )

I'm more than happy with my flatscreen Phillips but I'm pretty sure the 19" comes in over $750. That sounds like a pretty good buy you're talking about there though, I don't think you'll get much better than that.

Who, me? Thanks goaty, I actually have a 17" LG at the moment mate and it's given me many years of trouble free service so I have also been considering the 19" LG Studioworks 995E which I can pickup for $625, another bargain 19" model. Decisions, decisions. Amnion, I was looking at the 19" Philips 109P but it's just over $1000 which is more than I'm willing to spend on a new monitor, thanks for your input though and yeah, I reckon the Mitsubishi and LG monitors are both great buys at those prices.

Mong. Short for Mongoloid. As in the Asian. As in derogatory. See: Moron, medical condition used in a similar fashion. Therefore, spelling Mong as Mongue means you're a spastic (see moron)

I think you'll find the original spelling to be: Minogue.

Looking up a dictionary means you actually have such a crappy life that trying to make other feel stupid is your only "crack" in life. You spastic. Maybe you should take your finger out of your arse and realise there is a better world out there than a dictionary.

My reccomendations (Not that they mean anything to you..)Dont get Flat Screen as they suck horribly, they look wierd and warped imo and hurt your eyes. Dont get 21" because they are not economical and you have to run insane resolutions to get decent image quality, well, if you like your image quality as much as me that is I'd reccomend 17 with 19 as a maximum size... but 21 is just stupid. Check out the Hitachi range, they cost less and have a better dot pitch than the View Sonic range which are suposed to be pretty good (My parentals picked up a 17 recently for around 300 I beleive, they where looking at a View Sonic in the same size but it wasnt as good and cost more) And I reckon that monitor looks pretty good, not sure about priceing as I havnt checked around much

Have to disagree with you there a bit Sonic as I just got a 21" flat screen, your 2 pet hates it seems It did look a bit warped at first but it's like trying out new glasses, you get used to it in a couple of days. I only notice it a bit on the desktop sometimes when you play games its not a problem at all. I've got a flat screen telly as well so maybe I'm used to it a bit. As for image quality I solved that problem By picking up a GF3 at the same time I run my desktop & most of my games at 1600 x 1200 these days. Awesome on the 21". Also I believe the drivers that came with the card (Hercules) have tweaks to allow for the "concave" appearance of a flat screen though I haven't tried them.

I guess we differ in taste... I too have a GF3 and the ability to crank insane resolutions... But I just hate the loss of framerate in games and the visual clarity you lose if you dont up.And I cant stand the flat screen look... I have useing a couple of LG's out at work for many months now and the image just shits me to no end, it just doesnt look natural.

I can't stand the look of non-flat screens actually.. my TV and monitor are flat screen, and when I look at ones that aren't they look like a huge bubble.
