Just did a search on WhitePages.com.au, and it turns out that not a single person in Sydney has the surname Tsakalos.Either: a) They have an unlisted, private number.
b) They don't live in Sydney, but opened the bank account in Sydney.
c) They used fraudulent identification to open the account. (unlikely, but possible)
d) They are relying on the fact that most people will use internet banking to transfer the money, which does not rely on the account name being correct. Using this method, you could send money to account name Bob Brown, and as long as the BSB and account number are correct, the money will go into Simon Smith's account no worries. If this method of fraud is used, then anybody who attempts to deposit the money in-branch will be told that the account name is wrong.

(02) 6297 2324 BTW, you can request the sellers phone number and address through eBay. I am not willing to divulge my real details to the seller using my primary eBay account, however I'm going to set-up a dodgey eBay account now to obtain the sellers details. If this goose actually used his real details, they could be useful in tracking him down.

No he can't, because he never bidded and the auction has been removed. Besides, if someone sets up an account for scamming they're not going to put their real details in a form to Ebay. Have you bothered contacting the Police? Yeah, just thought of that a while after I posted Hercy. Buying items outside of eBay from anyone with a feedback rating of less than 10 is asking for trouble.Good luck 20CentFun in getting your money back, but this may conclude to be a relatively expensive life lesson.
