Hi all i am after a old arcade machine to work on a little hobby, the machine doesnt have to be working but must have the two pads and the coin operation still in working order. I am trying to turn the machine into a M.A.M.E. For those of you who do not know what mame is i will give a brief discription.MAME is an arcade machine with a computer inside. The computers hardrive stores all the arcade games on its hard drive. The games are exact replica files of what went into the 1980s models and so on. The games come out exactly the same (this is not those crappy emulators and Roms) The functions all stay the same. The key board is tamperd with so wires go from the keys to the six button pad, cool! Even the coin operation works (Charge your mates) If you do the thing up nicely you have you can have your self over 1000 of the best arcade games. Image owning the TMNT, Street Fighter and Mortal Combat series and firing it up when your mates came round it would be awsome.

I thought you were talking about (and your description made it sound like) you stick a PC running M.A.M.E. in an arcade cabinet. Which makes it a 'crappy emulator and Roms'.

Actually MAME *is* an emulator. It stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. Official site: http://www.mame.net/ The arcade machines you're talking about are still running roms on an emulator. Like this guy has done: http://www.brightsight.com/Arcade/MAMEv1.asp Sorry to spoil your day

Mame isn't that great an emulator though.(it's better to get hardware specific emus like NeoRage, kawaks, callus etc) I tried running double dragon 1 on my computer and it was chugging like mad. That game is so old too. Can't wait to see what emus Xbox will have in store.

1) You planned to start a PS2 mod chip business, then busted a mates machine melting solder all over the motherboard....2) You post on an internet forum about how your going charge your mates to play Mame (which according to you, isn't an emulator - snicker). Instead of posting here about your 'project', why didn't you go to Google, AltaVista or any other search engine and find out what Mame is before trying to act smart on a bulletin board about something you obviously know nothing about? 3) You talk down to everyone as though you know it all. 4) You spelled Soul Calibur as saul calabur.

It shouldn't have to be to play a game as old as Double Dragon 1 full speed, especially when much newer games, running through other emulators run @ 100%. Not all emus are created equally.
