This thread is obviously flamebait, it's hardly surprising that Christopher is receiver the flaming he set out to achieve. If I started a thread entitled "There sure is a lot of Peppermint Lounge posts here" containing a number of idiotic reasons why you suck, I think you'd probably reply. And I still don't understand the idea behind the "$" in things like "M$", "Ozi$oft" and "Tel$tra".

DJ Fu$ion.$orry if I'm cranky, I'm trying to set up a 25 computer private network at work here for a bid project and I just found out my ghost image disks are fuxored and I have to configure all 25 brand new PCs to our standard operating environment manually.

Nintendo don't care about third parties, so in a way they probably did intend to not have so many (as in "just let anybody launch crap on the system") third parties joining the system. (they control the competition of software) They don't need or rely on them a much as Sony and MS. If they can get good sales off thier own software titles, it is all that matters. Anything else is a bonus to them. (The exposure, hype from securing big names etc) I think this is the difference between nintendo and the other 2. They listen to themselves (rather than everyone else) and do what they want regardless of the fanboy criticism. If something looks like it is going to fail, they can it, rather than letting it go on with no support and suddenly abandoning it and leaving people with nothing to look forward to. (even GBC has it's hits)

Good point, but it's still a cross against the systems launch instead of a tick.

It implies that these companies are only in it for the money, because we all know that profitable businesses are evil.

Hard drives have been a part of gaming for years. Hard drives in consoles are certainly something new, but they can't be described as an innovation. Even if you can successfully argue they are, it's not one you can credit to Microsoft because Sony have HDD's available for Playstation 2 today. quote: This thread is obviously flamebait, it's hardly surprising that Christopher is receiver the flaming he set out to achieve. Flamebait? You mean he has an opinion that differs from your own so you flamed him. That's more like it. I've reread Christopher's opening posts and I can't see where he says XBox 'sucks'. All he questions is whether XBox will add much variety for consumers if all MS seek to do is emulate Sony's business model. Fair question. You'll need a thicker skin if you're going to be an XBox fanboy, Megaman. quote: And I still don't understand the idea behind the "$" in things like "M$", "Ozi$oft" and "Tel$tra".
Because they're corporations who care more about profits and shareholders than consumers. I mean nothing political by that stmt. I'm happy with capitalism. Doesn't mean you can't make light of it sometimes.

Bootdisks I have. It's our dual CD SOE ghost image. The 25 PC's I received have had their specs upped slightly, and that's not usually an issue but they must have changed their HD driver or something nasty because I blue screen on bootup. It'll be quicker for me to do them manually than spend a day trying to create a new SOE.

He also suggests that the Xbox is identical to the PS2, and that the Xbox has no decent software. Statements which are clearly idiotic, and not just because they contradict each other.

No he didn't. He describes XBox and PS2 as identical in that MS seek Sony's market/userbase rather than pitching for something new. Identical in that on face value, both devices are similar (DVD, remote control, online plans etc.). MS have courted Sony's key developers hoping XBox might host Sony's key franchises. His point centres around his doubt as to whether MS will bring added originality/variety to the marketplace. It's a fair point. I personally don't agree with it but it's hardly idiotic.I don't recall reading him describing XBox as having 'no decent software' either. He merely suggests XBox (games and hardware) is soft on originality - his personal observation. [This message has been edited by Peppermint Lounge (edited 27-10-2001).]

I'm waiting for someone to blame Sony or Microsoft for the failure of the Dreamcast. I hope everyone's beyond that by now.Meh, at first I was angry at Microsoft for entering the console market, but with the games that are coming out on it, I don't care about brand name, just what's on the box.* *no pun intended**
*OK pun intended

Get this through your heads, I am not anti-xbox, I just want something new, what is the hell wrong with that, I can afford to buy all 3 machines but choose not to for the software on ps2 and xbox is going to be way too similar, sure Microsoft is going to have it's halo's and its bloodwake's but that is like 1 exclusive game in every 20, you see I dont care if xbox fails or not, I just wish they put more time into what they are trying to sell instead of throwing money around everywhere. e.g that 500 million dollar's for the marketing campaign could have gone to hiring people with some brains and some creativity instead of men in there 30's like robbie batch who try to act like teenagers who think they are cool e.g at e3 he refused to shake hands with peter main and the guy from sony after there public debate, talk about childish and pathetic. And this is not a flamebait, I am too busy with my life to do somthing that lame.
