Hmm why did I buy a PS2?

Oh yeah, Crazy Taxi ... umm another DVD player ... umm Grand Theft Auto 3 I think ... oh shit why did I buy a PS2?

Come to think of it, every console I've bought has either been out of peer pressure, just having to have it, or a phase I was feeling at the time.

Shit eh ... time to get back to my roots.

*picks up shotgun and straps blades to his arms*

I'm going after the one thing I truly love ... the arcade coin-op of Outrun ... and God help any place that doesn't reliquish it into my evilly crazy sick sad mad controversial loose cannon mischevious tired "are you talkin to me?" ... what was I going to say next? ... err hands ... yes ... hands.

Bloody hell.

I just can't understand this 'realistic looking' thing people like in games. When I play a game, it's because I want to ESCAPE from reality, not see it recreated on screen (with one exception - Shenmue ). Possibly why I've been playing a lot of Centipede and Elevator Action lately (or maybe I just love those two games).

Craxy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Rez, pretty much any 2D fighter (and Tech Romancer too), none of them look very realistic in any way. Probably a reason why I never got into MSR as much as I would have liked (and why Gran Turismo just turns me off), far too realistic looking and playing.

Bring on the gamecube with the cutesy lookin' games, I love 'em all.

It's always been the games for me.

About 2 years ago, my brother and I hired out a Dreamcast from Civic, we played Sonic Adventure for 22 hours straight (coz there was no VMU). From then on it was a matter of getting enough cash for one...

I don't buy based on games anymore. I buy based on availability. Basically if it's been released, I'll own it.

Its all about games.

I posted a thread on the topic ages ago

the reason I havent bought a next gen console as yet- is due to this factor- nothing yet apeals to me on any console...... apart from maybe, furture titles such as Metriod Prime and Perfect Dark Zero (if is its online) Oh and Soul calibur 2

Im starting to sounding like a GCN fan..... well close to it

Same, I don't enjoy realistic games a great deal. The reason I play games is for escapism, not to be convinced by simulated reality.

How many games are really "realistic" anyway?

Go back to Pong people.

Did you know pong could have been a survival horror game? Put yourself in the position of the ball...your life is in the hands of 2 paddles with no safetynet. You go hurtling around with no idea what you'l bump into next, and out of nowhere a paddle smashes you around a bit. And if they miss, then its lights out for you...you go to eternal damnation.

Syama - Scary.

You see that's why I posted this topic to see how people decide on what Console to get.

I noticed a few of you's commented on my decision, cause how I prefer Graphics and that perswaded me to get a X-Box, but you see I don't follow what others say, I just buy what I like, that's why I brought a Dreamcast, becuase I liked the Graphics on it but I really like the online feature and the games, even though lots of others didn't like it, I did so I bought it. The same with the X-box , I like the Graphics alot, but I really like how it's got a Broad Band connection and DVD player as well.

I also like what games are coming out on it, eg:-

Unreal Championships (online)
Shenmue 2
Dino Crisis 3
Collin McRae 3
OutLaw Golf
Project Ego
and also Sega is making alot of games for it.

Games do matter, but I also like to get a Quality Console that can churn out awesome Graphics that can really suck you into a game.

To me the better the graphics, (but with good gameplay to,eg: Halo) the more I enjoy a game

Damn, now you've really got me thinking. What does happen to the balls that fall off the playing field? It'd be interesting to base a whole game around that...

DJ. Think clearly for a second. Ever heard of multiculturalism and diversity? Puting time in to understanding others?

Do I go out of my way to put you and your posts down? No. Its called trolling. Stop showing your ignorance, it only makes PlayNow look bad.

Syama - Back on topic. I decide what console to get based on what games are available. JSRF was/is my main reason to own an xbox....MGS2/VF4 are my reasons for having a PS2 and Rareware are my reason for having a cube.

Kinda like having $20,000 of assets and a hot girlfriend, as opposed to someone who doesn't?

Oh I'm sorry.

DJ Fusion - I wasn't aware that I was attacking your culture or your freedom of diversity. I thought I was simply expressing my opinion that I consider that msyama - thing that you do to be retarded and annoying.

DJ Fusion - I blame your ignorance on a lack of iron and minerals that are commonly missing in people that don't eat meat.
