I was just wondering how do most people decide on what Console they get. Do they listen to the majority of the people and just get what is the most popular, or do they actually ask around, look to see what games are coming out for it,check the console it's self, for Features and other such things or what.

It seems to me allot of people are kind of like Sheep, they follow what everyone else does, just like when the Dreamcast was released.
Everyone said it was going to fail from the start, they didn't go out and actually play the console they just heard all these bad things about it,(I'm talking about the mainstream Gamers here), and then Sony says that it's new Console is so powerful, can Control missiles and stuff, and the Graphics are out of this world, and because the PS1 was so popular people believed them.

It seems to me not many people are giving the X-box or GameCube the chance they deserve because of the PS2's hype.

So tell me what you think about this, it will be interesting to know how others chose their Console, and be honest ok

and as I said in another thread. The name. I can't help it, but people stand behind a familar name. I stand behind Nintendo, and SEGA.

But games primarily.

Pretty much what Grey said. If I was given no information about two games, one by Nintendo the other from M$, and had to choose between them I'd grab the Nintendo one and walk out with a smile knowing I made the correct decision.

Well I'd have to say, it might be stupid to some, but Graphics are the things that sell me. I want a game to look as realistic as it can get, plus the game play must be there too, but the main thing to me is, the realer the Graphics look, the more attractive the console is to me. I guess I just like to keep up with the times, those older games just don't attract me anymore

Yep that's what I own and I'm very happy I did get one too, one of the best Consoles, if not the best I have owned, and that's even before some of these very big games have been released

Bought PS2 - NBA Street/Tekken Tag
Bought Xbox - Halo/Rallisport

Yup... I gotta say that games are what gets me too.

I bought a PS because of Alien Trilogy,
I bought an N64 because of Shadows of the Empire,
I bought a DC because of Soul Calibur,
I bought a PS2 because of Gran Turismo 3, and because I knew Metal Gear Solid 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines were eventually coming.
And I'll buy a Gamecube because of Rogue Leader.

I'll join the concensus and say games. It's always the prime factor in deciding my purchase of a console. I bought the Xbox and DC for the following reasons initially:

Crazy Taxi
Soul Calibur
Halo
Jet Set Radio Future

I don't regret getting either console.

Games, always the games. And maybe also the companies behind those games. I never bother with the hardware side of things unlike most people who seem to base their gaming decisions off the hardware first.
