RUMOUR: Some PSO dog tags are bogus

One of my family members works for Leisure & Allied and he was talking to a Sega rep who mentioned offhand that there is a rumour going round that a large number of the PSO dog tags up for auction on eBay are actually fake. So if you are planning on buying some of these from eBay (I understand that they can sell for quite a lot) it might be worth doing some more investigation to see if this is the case.

Yes, I started laughing too as soon as I read the subject title and thought of migs spending all that money on those tags.

I may be wrong but I think I also read something online a few days ago that the ones that got sold a few months back were mainly fakes.. All the ones sold now are apparently OK. Its just a rumour mind you so I wouldnt put to much thought into it. Im sure yours are OK MiGiSHu since you only just bought them.

Yes he did although at the time he bought his, I doubt there would of been time for fakes to be out in the market.

The guy who I bought them off seemed to have quite a number of official Sega of America merchandise, like SoA Jackets, Promotional items etc... so Id highly doubt theyd be fakes...

If you can "unwrap" the dogtag and find chocolate inside, then it's likely to be fake.
If the chocolate has white spots throughout,it's a poor fake.
If the chocolate tastes like the chocoloate you get in chocolate cigarettes,it's a pretty good fake.
In all cases, feux dogtages will be filled with compound chocolate. It is the quality of this chocolate/oil based filling that determines the true value of your fake.

A good fake needs no refrigeration and will currently sell for approximately $100 dollars per unit.
