I apologise for the fact that the Pool Room is formatted for UBB forums, so some of the tags don't work.

zerolight is absolutely correct, and nathan, I've got a bloody expensive top of the range Sony WEGA and PAL 60Hz looks shite on it for some reason, with exactly the same problems as you. But on a mate's plasma, it looks perfect, so I think there may be a way to tweak the TV or it only supports it properly through one input or something but I haven't played with it yet.

Well it must be a WEGA thing then. Seems no one has the same troubles with 60hz. Hook your DC / PS2 to a WEGA and then my arguments will be valid, if not I stand corrected.

You apologise for the formatting? What about the rest of it? I am sure no one cares for the large amount of trash you have posted to this thread. Try apologising for that.

mate, if you want me to apologise for the amount of amount of "trash" I posted, then it'd be hypocritical of you not to do the same.

You're upset because you don't have your own version of it like zarevz, aren't you?

I should probably share the truth here with you guys, since this is getting out of hand.

Nathan is an escaped mental patient from Perth, Western Australia. He was locked up in SCART 725 when he flashed a devil smiley at the guard, who dropped his keys in front of the cell, and Nathan made good his escape at 50hz.

Prince Underpants has spent the last 400 hours as an android looking for Nathan, but all that was found was a trail of froot loops.

Until now. It appears that Nathan has skipped a few frames, tripped over Vzzzbx's busted Jackson nose, and has been caught. Thus ends the story.

For some reason, I seem to want to start an intelligent conversation here.

quote:

NTSC has some benefits for recorded media though, as you don't get enough interference between the player and the TV to cause colour variance, and it can give greater colour editing acuracy. You also get a better signal/noise ratio with an NTSC signal

Does this only apply to RF & composite, or s-video and RGBS as well? Any PAL user who cares about image quality would use SCART.

quote:

It is quite difficult to tell the difference between 525 and 625 line images though, just as it's difficult to tell between 50Hz refresh and 60Hz refresh.

Just to clarify: refresh rate and frame rate are not to be confused.

It is well established by experiments worldwide that with film 25fps (or there abouts) is the most that people can appreciate. This is PAL framerate, NTSC is 29.97fps. PAL and NTSC cannot be differentiated in this regard.

However, people are much more sensitive to changes in light intensity. Each time an image is drawn, the screen quickly fades until it is refreshed (either 50 times a second or 60). This makes low refresh screens flicker. Nowadays, one can get PAL TVs refreshing at 100Hz, which is more than enough, so if you have one of those, PAL-60 loses another of its (slender) advantages.
